Sampath death case: 8 accused may turn approvers  

Palakkad, Saturday, May 07, 2011: The today informed that the eight accused in the custodial death of Sampath, the prime accused in the sensational Puthur Sheela murder case, will be made approvers. The list has been submitted before the Ernakulam Court. The statements of the eight policemen will be once again be recorded by the Court.

The accused have been identified as Sub Inspector Purushothaman Pillai, Senior Civil police officer Ramdas, Civil police officers- Abdul, Muhammad Shamim, Gireesh, Sharat, Swaroop, PK Aji.

Meanwhile has on Friday rejected the bail petition filed by four policemen in connection with the custodial death of Sampath, the main accused in the sensational Puthur Sheela murder case.

The High Court rejected the bail petition filed by DySP CK Ramachandran, south sub inspector TU Unnikrishnan, north sub inspector Ramesh and Constable Shyam Prasad.

Unnikrishnan and Ramesh are the first and second accused in connection with the custodial death of Sampath. Sampath, died in police custody on March 29, 2010.
