Thiruvananthapuram, Friday, January 22, 2010: K Sankaranarayanan was on Friday sworn in as the Governor of Maharashtra. He was administered the oath of office by the Acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, Justice Jay Narayan Patel at a brief ceremony held at Darbar Hall at Raj Bhavan here.
Soon after the oath- taking ceremony, Sankaranarayanan was given a ceremonial guard of honour by the Indian Navy.
Outgoing Governor S C Jamir, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council Shivajirao Deshmukh, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Dilip Walse-Patil, Ministers in the State Cabinet, senior officers in the Government and Police and other eminent citizens were present on the occasion.
Sankaranarayanan brings with him a vast and varied experience in public life. A venerable personality, Sankaranarayana has dominated the political firmament of Kerala for nearly five decades
