Kozhikode, Tuesday, March 09, 2010: Karnataka High Court upheld the ban on dusk-dawn vehicular traffic through Kozhikode- Bangalore NH proposed by Karnataka Forest department. The appeal filed against this ban by Kerala, Tamil Nadu was dismissed by the High Court. The transportation facilities of the substitute road should be checked within six months, directed the High Court.
It was for the safety of wild animals in the Bandipur National park that the action had Kerala, Tamil Nadu, private bus owners had also filed case against this action.
Kerala would go for appeal against this verdict of Karnataka High Court in Supreme Court, said M.I Shanavas MP. Kerala’s argument in the High Court regarding the case was that there is no alternative for connecting the two states.
Also a hartal would be held in Wayanad against this verdict. The hartal is being organized by ‘ Vyapari Vyavasaya Ekopana Samithi’
