Kannur, Thursday, 15 July 2010: An activist of SDPI has been arrested this morning in connection with the raid conducted at Edakkad,near here . Moosakutti had been taken into custody from near the railway station here. The report says that this was the first arrest made in connection with this incident and the investigation had extended to other districts too.
Moosakutti had arrived here from abroad before four months. He would be produced before the Court today. Police had hinted that there would be more arrests in relation with the raid.
Police had registered a case against around fifty activists of Popular Front, SDPI for staging a protest without consent, alleging publicizing ill-fame against the organization.

The police today recovered explosives and pamphlets from a building in Manakkad near Edakkad. The raid was conducted on Monday morning by a team led by Kannur DySP C T Tom. Police said that the building was used by popular front as their office.
The raid was conducted following secret information. Steel bombs, swords, glass pieces, a sack of granites, various Pamphlets on terrorism, banners etc were seized.
The explosives were stored in a separate cell constructed in the shed. The police had received information that some assailants were camping in the area during the past few months.
Dog squad and bomb squad also participated in the search.
