Thiruvananthapuram, Monday 01 June 2009: The schools in the state would become alive from today onwards, as around 46 lakh students would resume their learning activities, when the schools reopen after two-month summer vacation.

The Education Department has done elaborate arrangements for school re-opening.

While those who have already started their learning of letters would be eager to reopen their school and to meet their old friends, it would be hard time for tiny tots, who began their first day at school, leaving their beloved parents and toys.

Kerala Education Minister M A Baby said that the government had taken all measures to make the ”pravesanotsavam” a grand success and as part of the government’s policy the state-level inauguration would be held at a school in Peerumedu in Idukki district, where the majority students are Tamil speaking.

Kerala Education Minister said that around five lakh tiny tots would step into school for the first standard and the government had taken all steps to make their first day a thrilling experience, including distribution of sweets and decorating class rooms and schools, to received them.

The Minister also said the text books would be distributed in time and for the first time the government was planning to constitute a committee with the peoples representatives, Teachers Association and officials from the Education department to monitor the distribution of text books, and find solutions if any complaints found.

He also said the government had held talks with the head- load workers leaders and find a solution in unloading text books, which was otherwise a permanent headache to the government in the past several years.

Hinting that the government was going to take action against unrecognised schools in the state, he said it would take steps to make aware parents not to admit their kids in such school, instead to admit them in recognised schools.

Stating that the government had changed the text books from first class to eighth classes, Baby said the government’s object was to give quality education to all.
