Kochi, Monday, December 29, 2008: The CBI, which is probing the murder of Catholic nun Abhaya, told the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court that sister Abhaya was bludgeoned by Sister Sephy three times on head with an axe. Sister Abhaya who fell unconscious after receiving bruises on head and behind the ear was dumped in the convent well by Fr Thomas M Kottor, Fr Jose Puthrukkayil.
The investigating agency made the statement when the accused were produced before court after the period for custodial interrogation was over.
The CBI has also informed that there may be more accused in the case.
The Ernakulam chief judicial magistrate court has extended the remand of the accused to 12th of January.
All three accused in the Sister Abhaya murder case was produced before Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate today since the remand period of the three accused Fr Thomas Kottoor, Fr Jose Puthrukayil and Sr Sephy ended today.

By granting bail to the three accused, Justice Hema and system once again shows In India Justice is dead rather than Live. Horrible it is . How a nation like India can blame others who refuse legal status to the public. They may can influence even law with money but one thing they should understand that in the heart of PUBLIC they are CRIMINALS. We know CBI has done very good job but derailed by law and money.
There is many a slip between cup and lip, and it would surprise me if the priests and nun involved in this heinous crime are convicted, and serve out their sentence. There is more than a 75 percent possibility of them going free, as long as they have a big Institution like the Catholic Church behind them. Unfortunately, It has always been the Catholic Church’s policy to go out of its way to support corrupt priests and nuns, because it does not want the fair name of the church to be sullied.
It’s about time for a change in the celibacy policy too, because priests and nuns are only human, and have normal biological urges.
The Kottayam diocese has very seriously erred in letting the priests and nun continue to conduct their duties in the church as innocent people, giving them promotions, and even letting them serve the holy sacrament [The Body of Christ] to the gullible laity. They are answerable, but who will take them to task?
This is only the tip of the iceberg. If Proper investigations are conducted into the living conditions and treatment meted out to orphans and other novices in convents, their stories would curl your hair. The slaughter of the lambs! The power the higher ups in the hierarchy have is unbelievable, they are answerable to none.
