Nedumbassery, Wednesday, November 30, 2011: The Special Investigation team (SIT) probing the sensational Kozhikode moral policing case has on Monday submit the chargesheet before the Kozhikode first class judicial magistrate Court. The investigation team is headed by Thamarassery DySP. Josy Cherian.

15 persons have been listed as the accused in the case in which Shahid Bava, a 29-year-old youth succumbed to injuries which he sustained after he was severely beaten up by a mob in Kozhikode on October 10. The accused have been chargesheeted under offences like criminal conspiracy and homicide.

The first accused in the case, Kodiyathur Maaliyekal Fayas, was nabbed by the police. With Fayas arrest, the total number of persons arrested is 13. The case relates to a group of persons beating up Shahid with sticks, after tying his hands and legs, on October 10 for allegedly having an affair with a married woman. The victim succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in the city.

After the incident, Fayas left abroad and returned on Wednesday morning by the Jet Airways flight. Police arrested him immediately and will hand him over to the Mukkam police. Police are yet to arrest two more persons relating to the case.
