Kasargod, Thursday, January 27, 2011: The District Administration had initiated steps to issue smart cards to the suspected Endosulfan victims.
According to a recent health survey, a total of 3,435 people are suspected to be suffering from the ill effects of the aerial spraying of Endosulfan in the Plantation Corporation of Kerala’s cashew estates in the region.
An official release said of the 15,698 people who attended the 17 medical camps conducted by the Government, 3,435 were found suffering from various diseases which could have been caused by the after-effects of the spraying of Endosulfan in the district for over two decades. Over 120 doctors from five Medical Colleges examined patients at the camp.
The smart card will contain the entire details about each victim. The technical committee comprising of specialist doctors will examine each endosulfan victim.
