Kochi, Friday, December 31, 2010: The 23rd meeting of the Board of Directors of the proposed Smart City, Kochi has begun at Hotel Dream near Kadavanthra today at 10 a.m.
The meeting comes close on the heels of a couple of new developments relating to the project, which had been in a perpetual state of hibernation for close to two years now.
Smart City CEO Fareed Abdul Rahman and the newly appointed IT Secretary K Suresh Kumar will take part in the meeting.
After a number of board meetings and communications failed to resolve the stalemate over the project, the State government recently nominated NoRKA Roots vice-chairman and director of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry M.A. Yousuf Ali to mediate with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities to resolve the issue.
During the period, Principal Information Technology Secretary Ajay Kumar had also been replaced by K. Suresh Kumar.
The board of directors is meeting for the first time after these two major developments. The meeting is likely to pass a resolution accepting the government’s nomination of Suresh Kumar as a member of the board of directors.
