Kollam, Wednesday, February 02, 2011: Opposition leader Oommen Chandy today said that the UDF owned the credit for the Smart City project being implemented.

Chandy said that he is very happy to know that the hurdles in connection with the project have been solved. It was Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan who opposed the project saying that it was a real estate business, Chandy said.

Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh had come forward offering free land for the project. The State got the project by the timely intervention of the A K Antony Government, Chandy said.

Chandy also added that the Government should apologise to the people for delaying the project.
