Thiruvananthapuram, Monday, June 01, 2009: Tightening its screw on CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan in connection with the SNC Lavalin case, in its report to CBI has reportedly requested governor not to mull over the legal advise of Advocate General. It says, Pinarayi Vijayan along with two other government officials was arrayed on the basis of concrete evidence against them.
It also added that, Advocate General’s advice on this case that there was no primary evidence against Pinarayi Vijayan is not acceptable.
Earlier Governor had sought more clarifications from the CBI, two weeks back after the government forwarded the legal opinion provided by the Advocate General. The Governor had asked opinion from CBI on several points made in the legal opinion, including the claim that Mr Pinarayi Vijayan had stood for the interest of the state. The CBI team consulted legal aides before giving final picture to the reply.
RS Gavai, the Governor is expected to take a final decision on the request made by CBI for sanction of the accused in SNC Lavalin case by this weekend. Governor is collecting advice from legal and constitutional experts regarding the stand to be taken. CBI is hoping for a clearance and are expecting to file the charge sheet, as soon as the Governor gives his consent.
