Thiruvananthapuram, Sunday, September 11, 2011: Southwest monsoon has been active over Kerala. Rain occurred at most places in Lakshadweep. Heavy rainfall reports in cm are – Karipur AP (Malappuram district) 11 and Angadippuram (Malappuram district) 7.
The other chief amounts of rainfall reports in cm are – Perinthalmanna (Malappuram district) & Vadakara (Kozhikode district) 6 each and Kodungallur & Kunnamkulam (both in Thrissur district) & Kudulu (Kasaragod district) 5 each. Another 25 stations reported rainfall of 1 cm to 4 cm.
Rain/thundershower will occur at most places in Kerala and at many places in Lakshadweep. Isolated heavy rainfall will occur in Kerala during next 48 hours.
Strong onshore winds from westerly direction speed occasionally reaching 45 to 55 kmph, is likely along & off Kerala coast and over Lakshadweep area during next 24 hours. Generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of shower/thundershower.
