Thiruvananthapuram, Saturday 19 March 2011: The 13th death anniversary of Communist leader and former Chief Minister E.M.S. Namboodiripad was observed throughout the State on Saturday.
Political party leaders and people from different walks of life paid glowing tributes to EMS at functions held at various places.
Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan and other CPM leaders gathered before the statue of EMS in the park near the Assembly building here in the morning. They offered floral tributes before the statue.
Speaking on the occasion, Achuthanandan said EMS Namboodiripad was a leader who equipped Communist parties to handle governance in a bourgeois system. “He also created opportunities for Kerala to prove its capabilities at the national and international levels.â€
CPM State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan recalled that EMS, through his spirited leadership, had given a new dimension to the Communist movement in the country.
