Tiruvalla, Tuesday 15 December 2009: With Palakkad maintaining its lead in the State School Games meet, the athletic section also began with a show of strength on Tuesday. In today’s events, which were held in the morning, Palakkad bagged 3 of the 4 gold medals. Palakkad bagged three gold in the junior girl’s 3000 metre, senior girl’s 3000m and junior boy’s 3000m.

P V Chitra of the Palakkad Mundoor School bagged the gold and K K Vidya of the same school bagged the silver in the girl’s 3000 metre race. N Namitha of the same school won the gold in the senior 3000m race and Rajini from the Kothamangalam St George School the silver. P J Prasad won the gold in the junior boy’s 3000m.

The meet also registered its first meet record in shotput. P V Alfin from Thiruvananthapuram created a new record in shotput.
