Kannur, Saturday 6 June 2009: Revenue Minister K P Rajendran here today said that state would set up as many as 100 shelters in the coastal regions to avert natural disasters.
Inaugurating a workshop on ‘Media Interventions in Management of Disasters,’ jointly organised by KUWJ, Revenue department and UNDP, Rajendran said the Central Government’s Disaster Management Authority had recognised the project submitted by the state government.
The government would also set up a ‘Civil Defence’ Training Centre for disaster management at Thrissur and three regional centres at Kannur, Kottayam and Ernakulam during this financial year.
