Kochi, Tuesday, February 09, 2010: The Kerala High Court has extended the status quo imposed on two check dams constructed by Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company at its Lekshmi and Chanduvurrai estates and the electric fencing erected on its rose plantation at Munnar. As per the order no action must be taken against the dam till tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Punjar kovilakom and the workers of Tata Company have appealed to the Court to make them additional respondents in connection with the case.
However, the Company has informed that they are ready to handover the two check dams to government or function according to the guidelines fixed by Dam Safety Authority.
The Advocate General briefed the Court regarding the fresh ordinance released by government yesterday that gives enough power to district collector to raze the dam.
