Pathanamthitta, Sunday 07 February 2010: KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala said that the people had lost confidence in Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan and hence it was improper on his part to continue in office.
The KPCC president was speaking after inaugurating a State camp of Kerala Congress (Jacob) at Charalkunnu, near Kozhencherry.
He said the Chief Minister and other Cabinet members’ stance was at variance on many important issues. While Achuthanandan claimed that the task force sent to Munnar earlier was a great success, many of his Cabinet colleagues have termed it a big flop.
Though the Chief Minister had stated that the unauthorised check-dams in Munnar would be demolished, the affidavit filed by the Advocate-General before the High Court of Kerala clarified that they would not be demolished, he said.
Chennithala the government should understand the difference between the encroachers in Munnar and farmers in Udumbanchola. He said the farmers have got possession certificates for the land occupied by them. Any move to evict farmers from their lands would face stiff resistance.
