Viyoour, Saturday 04 July 2009: The SI of Viyoour police station was beaten up by a group of students who barged into the station demanding release of some students who were booked for creating violence on the road with liquor bottles. SI Sajin Sasi who was injured in the clash has been admitted to the Daya Hospital with head and hand injuries.

The incident occurred around 12 pm on Friday night. The night patrolling police booked four engineering college students from Pallimoola junction. Within half an hour, a group comprising around 25 students, barged into the police station and created a ruckus. Only four policemen were in the station during that time.
