Thrissur, Saturday, October 15, 2011: Congress leader V.M. Sudheeran has today demanded for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into corruption in the public-sector Malabar Cements Limited (MCL) at Walayar.
The Kerala High Court had directed the CBI to inquire into the death of V. Sasheendran, former company secretary of MCL, and his two sons. The agency should also probe into “corruption running into hundreds of crores of rupees” because both cases are interlinked, according to Sudheeran.
There were also allegations of corruption in recruitment to the company. A former chief of MCL, who had allegedly played a key role in the irregularities, was given a prime post in the public sector recently by the new government too.
So, there should be a comprehensive inquiry into the corruption and illegal recruitments in MCL by the CBI, he said.
