Kollam, Monday, December 01, 2008: A nursing student from NS Hospital at Palathara attempted suicide after senior students reportedly ragged her. According to eyewitness account the girl jumped off from the fifth floor of the hospital and now has been admitted to hospital in a critical condition. A tense situation persists here following the incident.
The Kerala Government had issued a series of tough guidelines against ragging in educational institutions, according to which a student found guilty of such practices was subject to strict criminal charges, which could lead upto two years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.

what a punishment.do not you ashemed of this goverment. rs.10000. are they making a price for her life?lets see what will happen?
So far I remember, the minimum punishment for ragging should be expulsion…
On behalf of the Anti-Ragging NGO, SAVE (www.No2Ragging.Org ), I appeal to everyone to stand against ragging.
I meant, according to the verdict by the hon’ble SC.
The punishment should be severe,so that no other student will ever dream of ragging, Rs 10,000, is peanuts, they should pay lump sum for the family.
