Patna, Tuesday 22 September 2009: Pakistan’s ISI ‘Indian mole’ was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) in Patna, Bihar on Monday (September 21) night, carrying important military secrets. The ISI operative was reportedly in constant touch with ISI agents in Nepal as well.
Initial reports said that the ISI operative, identified, as Sudhanshu Sudhakar was an ex-Army sepoy. He was dismissed from the Army five years ago and was court marshaled for his involvement in a recruitment scam.
Neel Mani, Spokesperson, Bihar Police said, “Sudhanshu’s lead was given by the Intelligence Bureau. We arrested him along with vital documents related to military deployment on Western borders. We have registered a case under the official secrets act. He is being interrogated by military officials and intelligence officers.”
Important documents revealing military secrets was recovered from him, according to the Bihar police. Sudhanshu was trapped through a surveillance of telephone, where he was regularly in touch with ISI agents in Pak and Nepal for over two years. He was also in touch with the Pakistan High Commission in Nepal, which has raised questions amongst intelligence officers.
Providing details of the operation, Vineet Vinayak, SSP, Patna said that he was arrested last night by the STF along with the Bihar police. He added, “The man arrested was terminated from the Indian Army and in the interrogation held so far he revealed that he went to Kathmandu, where he met a person named Rana, who requested him to provide information on the movement of the Indian army along the borders. He was introduced to Rana by a person based in Madhubani, Bihar.”
The ISI operative is slated to be produced in a Patna civil court later on Tuesday.
