Suspected Maoists gun down three CPM workers

Midnapore, Thursday 10 December 2009: Suspected Maoists shot dead three CPM workers at Sebaytan village in Midnapore West district on Thursday.

The three — Bijay Mahto, Manik Mahto, Brihaspati Mahto — were called out from their homes in the village under Jhargram police station at about 1.30 am and gunned down, police said.

The bodies were found on Thursday morning in front of a college with a note that the three were given the “extreme punishment by people’s verdict” as they were ‘police informers’, they said.

In another incident, the Maoists blew up an office of the forest department at Jhitka in Lalgarh area using a landmine.
