Thiruvananthapuram, Tuesday, January 25, 2011: Tagore Theatre, one of the prestigious cultural centres located in the heart of the city, is all set to have a facelift with the renovation works estimatated to cost Rs 11.37 crores began here today. State Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan inaugurated the modernisation works.
Speaking on the occassion, Achuthanandan said the main aim of the project was to make the centre one of the most attractive cultural venue in the state capital to host various events. “The renovated complex will have a state-of-art stage, air conditioned halls, dynamic lighting arrangements and parking facility.
The greenery and open space of the complex will be preserved while taking up the development works,”he said. Modern pathways and mural paintings on the compound walls would be an added attraction of the complex, he said. State Minister for Public Works Department M Vijayakumar, Cultural Affairs Minister M A Baby, Minister for Transport Jose Thettayil, city mayor K Chandrika also attended the function.

a lost face.Looks like an institutional building with imposing columnar massses ,in contrast to a cultural building with human scale that I anticipated.
