Kochi, Saturday, 07 August 2010: National Investigating Agency (NIA) has initiated a probe on the alleged assistance rendered by the State police regarding the terror recruitment in the State. The allegations regarding the terrorist recruitments were mentioned in the letter received at the CBI Special Court, earlier this week.
The letter has been later handed over to NIA so as to initiate a probe, after thorough examination of officials including the Judge in the CBI Court. The probe has begun on grounds of the remarks in the letter that assistance to recruitment for such seditious activities had been rendered by the SP ranked police officers in the State. There were also vital remarks about the Wagamon, Panayikkulam SIMI camps.
Meanwhile, the Intelligence wing of State police had also approached the CBI Court to confirm on the true fact regarding the letter and to initiate an investigation on it.
Even though, NIA (probing various terror related cases in the State, including the recruitment of people to various terror outfits in Kashmir) had earlier acquired some information regarding the same allegations,further steps were not taken .
