The government today argued that Thachankary was removed from Kannur Range IG’s post strictly following suspension procedures and service norms. Additional Advocate General Renjith Thamaban made their stance clear that the suspended officer in the wake of foreign trip controversy cannot be reinstated. He also intimated the Tribunal that action against Thachankary was taken forefronting more than a breach of law.
Revealing government’s disagreement over the reinstating, the Additional AG argued that the former IG had made foreign trips without government consent for more than one time, and fabricated documents. He also pointed out that the suspended officer has been facing an NIA probe for alleged terror links.
