Palakkad, Tuesday 23 June 2009: Union Minister for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor has said that he is pained at Indians becoming more concerned about caste and religion.
“This was not so in my school days. We never bothered to check the caste or religion of our friends,” he said, inaugurating the Smart Class (digital classroom) at Palghat Lions School here on Monday.
The Minister said that education should contribute towards society and its political development.

Sasi Tharoor.. you are absolutely right!
Indian society should start shedding its religious garb and emerge out as a scientific decent civilised society without the aid of religions and superstitions. People should be able to live here without following any religion and yet get a fair space equitable to that enjoyed by those followers of religions and caste..
The domination of religion and the belief that without religion people can’t live a moral civilised life is absolutely false.
