Thiruvananthapuram, Saturday 27 March 2010: Deputy Mayor V. Jayaprakash has an added responsibility on his shoulder as he presents the final budget of the ruling CPM-led Corporation Council today. To prepare the ground for the development of a growing city.

For, this would be the last time that the capital city would count 86 wards.

In a few months time, with the addition of five more panchayats to the Corporation, it’s all set to grow huge and maybe touch or cross 100. And, naturally, budget figures and expectations would rise too.

‘‘Of course, the budget has considered the fact that the city is to expand its boundaries. The development prospects of a big city and the good planning that is required with the attachment of more panchayats, have gone into the preparation of the budget too,’’ said Jayaprakash.
