TMMK stages protest against Maudani arrest

Chennai, Monday 23 August 2010: Over 200 workers of Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhakam staged a demonstration here today, condemning the Karnataka and Kerala governments for including PDP leader Abdul Nasser Maudani in the Bangalore blast case chargesheet and arresting him as one of the main accused.

Police said that the activists, led by Barkat Ali, district TMMK president, also criticised the Kerala government for assisting the Karnataka police in arresting Maudani, particularly during Ramzan month.
They demanded that Karnataka immediately release Maudani, who was arrested only on the basis of a ‘reported confession of one Nasir without verifying or having any solid evidence’
