Kochi, Sunday, June 12, 2011: The toll collection in the Aroor- Edappally stretch has been temporarily stopped. The decision was taken during the talks held between PWD Minister Ibrahim Kunju and NHAI in Kochi.

The Minister added that the toll collection cannot be stopped completely.

Meanwhile, Union Minister KV Thomas today said that toll collection in Aroor-Edappally NH cannot be avoided. He was speaking at a meeting in Kochi for discussing the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI’s) decision to collect user fee from motorists using the Aroor-Edapally (16 km) stretch of the NH 47 bypass.

He said that the toll is being levied on the basis of national policy and toll collection is being held in other states too.
