Thrissur, Thursday, February 10, 2012: The 12-hour hartal announced by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun here in Thrissur district.

In protest against the lathi charge and the decision to start toll collection, BJP and Toll Virudha Samyuktha Samara Samithi has called for a hartal in the district on Friday.

The effort to start toll collection on Mannuthy- Edapally national highway turned violent at Paliakkara toll plaza on Thursday as police resorted to lathi charge to disperse protesters.
