Malappuram, Sunday 11 July 2010: Union Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran articulated pleasure over the inquiry by the Kerala police into the removal of brake pipes of Nilambur -Shoranur passenger.
Speaking to Reporters after visiting the spot, Mullappally opined that as of now there is no need for an NIA probe.
He however added that the union government is ready to investigate, if the state government demands so. Rumors were ripe that the inquiry may be handed over to NIA, considering chances of terror links.

DGP Jacob Punnouse today confirmed the brake pipe damage incident as a sabotage attempt. DGP added that the police have traced out evidences regarding the accused involved in the case and that the investigation was progressing in a positive way.
DGP informed that a joint committee of the Railway police and the State police would investigate the case. The Railway higher officials today visited the spot in Nilamboor. Jacob Punnouse also held talks with the senior police officials regarding this matter.
