Transfer of Govt doctors: KGMOA protests  

Thiruvananthapuram, Thursday, June 03, 2010: The KGMOA (Kerala Government Medical Officers Association) has warned that they would agitate against the transfer order for the government doctors. The association also demanded that the government must hear their pleas regarding the transfer order of doctors.

KGMOA informed in a press meet that they would strongly protest by holding strike against the government’s decision by transferring 1000 doctors including superintends on Wednesday in a sudden move.
The government’s explanation regarding the transfer was that the doctors were transferred for curbing the epidemic diseases before the commencing monsoon season.

Sreemathy pointed out that doctors working in same places for long time are liable to be transferred. The doctors should accept the transfer order today and report for duty tomorrow.

Health Minister PK Sreemathy warned of taking action against doctors who refuse to join their new places of duty. The warning comes after doctors refrained from joining, in protest against mass transfer.

Minister added that presently the bench strength of the doctors in government colleges is strong and there won’t be any problem even if the doctors go on leave. She added that necessary doctors would be appointed on walk-in interview basis.

More than 1000 doctors including superintends were transferred Wednesday in a sudden move.
