Thiruvananthapuram, Thursday 29 July 2010: A 12-year-old girl who had to face torture by her local guardian for the last two years, was rescued by the Nedumangad Police on Wednesday. The girl Ansi, hailing from Nedumangad, had to face torture from her local guardian Basheer, who was also a distant relative.
According to police, Ansi and her younger brother were living with Basheer for the past two years. Ansi’s mother Sumayya is working abroad while father is living separately for the past five years.
On Sunday, Basheer burnt Ansi’s hand using a burning rod. The teachers at Concordia Higher secondary school, where Ansi studied, noticed the burns and informed the Police, Basheer was arrested.
