Kozhikode, Saturday, January 29, 2011: The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Ramesh Chennithala has alleged that the revelations made by RA Rauf co-brother of IUML State General secretary PK Kunhalikutty in the ice cream parlour case, were part of a conspiracy. Speaking to the reporters in Kochi today, Chennithala added that the allegations would not affect UDF in any way.
This move has been made to weaken the Muslim League party, Chennithala said. While BJP State President V Muraleedharan had today demanded reinvestigation into the ice cream parlour case. Muraleedharan added that the CPM cannot escape from their responsibility in the Kunhalikutty issue.
The Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan must take necessary steps to initiate action against PK Kunhalikutty over the allegations raised against him. Muraleedharan was responding to the RA Rauf’s statement that IUML State secretary PK Kunhalikutty had influenced the witnesses in the ice cream parlour case.
BJP leader also expressed doubts as to why Kunhalikutty was not arrested during the EK Nayanar government’s rule. While Kunhalikutty had earlier said that he had received a death threat from his co brother RA Rauf and blamed him of hiring quotation gangs from Mangalore.
Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had earlier informed that the Malappuram Superintendent of Police had been directed to look into Kunhalikutty’s statement about threats to his life and take necessary action. Talking to presspersons, Kodiyeri said Kunhalikutty already had police protection.
Asked whether a fresh investigation would be instituted in the ice cream parlour case in view of the allegations, he said a decision would be taken after examining the legal aspects.
