Kalpetta, Thursday, February 18, 2010: The United Democratic Front today began a counter agitation against CPM’s land encroachment movement in Wayanad.
The agitation was inaugurated by Muslim League secretary PK Kunjalikutty.
Janata Dal(S) leader MP Virendrakumar, Wayanad MP MI Shanavaz attended the inauguration.

The agitation would begin with a three day vehicle rally covering all most all the panchayats in the district.

A high-level meeting of the UDF State committee held at Ernakulam on Tuesday had decided the mode of agitation. The UDF would demand retrieval of the land encroached upon by feeder organisations of the CPI(M) and speedy distribution of land to the tribal people.

Earlier, UDF leaders visited the areas at Vellaramkunnu where the land agitation was being carried out under the aegis of the Adivasi Kshema Samithy and the Kerala State Karshaka Thozhilali Union, tribal and farm labour hands of the CPI(M).
