Kottayam, Monday, February 28, 2011: Terming the union budget as anti-people, State Finance minister Thomas Isaac today said the budget helps for growth of corruption and will not promote economic development. As per the budget Rs.1,60,000 crore will spend for social sectors, out of which the amount spend for food subsidy is not mentioned, Isaac told reporters here.
About kerosene quota, he said if a person is living in an electrified house he is not entitled for kerosene, but fishermen were getting kerosene at subsidised rate though they live in electrified house.
Regarding food coupons, he said the consumer as per their choice could divert the sale of the coupons which affect 15000 ration shops in the state. He said the budget totally avoided Kochi metro project and a campus of Indian Institute of Technology which Prime minister Manmohan Singh promised earlier. The budget failed to solve the problem of price rise, he said.
