Six Union Ministers given H1N1 vaccine at AIIMS  

New Delhi, Wednesday 18 August 2010: Six Union ministers took a shot of the H1N1 vaccine developed in India — Vaxiflu-S — at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences today.

Union HRD minister Kapil Sibal, minister of state for health Dinesh Trivedi, minister of state for health S Gandhiselvan, Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Ahluwalia, minister of state for Agriculture, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution K V Thomas and Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj C P Joshi were the ministers who got themselves vaccinated.

“Six Union ministers undertook vaccination at AIIMS. All these ministers were present at AIIMS for a meeting related to the National Rural Health Mission. Doctors from Safdarjung hospital gave the vaccine doses that they brought from their hospital,” sources said.

Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was the first to get take the H1N1 vaccine shot on June 4.
