User’s fee: Central Tribunal dismisses govt’s plea  

Thiruvananthapuram, Monday, 19 July 2010: State government’s plea to stay the imposing of user’s fee at Trivandrum International Airport has been dismissed by the Supreme Court Tribunal headed by Justice Arijith Pasayath.

A notice had been sent to Airport Authority of India (AAI).The case would be considered again on September 6th. The State government on June 25th had filed a plea in the AAI Tribunal seeking a stay on imposing the user’s fee.

The State government had earlier informed that User’s fee would be imposed on passengers who fly abroad from Trivandrum International Airport. Users fee of rupees 755 would be imposed on the passengers.

The fee would come to effect from the inaugural day of the new second terminal of the Trivandrum Airport. Misiter M. Vijayakumar had earlier told on his visit that the new terminal’s work would be finished by this month end.
