Thiruvananthapuram, Friday, July 16, 2010: Kerala State Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan today informed the State assembly that 40,317 theft cases were reported in the State since the LDF government came to power. The loss of gold in these cases has been estimated to be rupees.1380863037; other articles worth Rs.1492002335 were also stolen.

Minister added that as many as 33,148 women harassment cases were registered. In reply to questions in the Assembly Minister Kodiyeri said that 273 women victims died in such incidents. About 1,439 cases of criminals ambushing women and snatching their gold ornaments have been reported.
