Thiruvananthapuram, Sunday, November 08, 2009: VK Madhavan Kutty award, the prestigious award for outstanding contribution in visual and print media has been announced. ACV News reporter Sibi Rajan received special recognition from the jury for his exceptional news story.

The award for best reporting in print media has been shared by R Samban of Deshabhimani and Cissy Jacob of Mathrubhumi. Biju Paravath of Asianet news bagged the award for best reporting in visual media. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 30,000, citation and plaque.

A news campaign on the brutally butchering of animals has made Sibi Rajan eligible for the special jury recognition. Sibi Rajan has been working as news reporter in ACV news Thiruvananthapuram bureau.

VK Madhavan Kutty award has been organized by the Global Kerala Initiative- Keraleeyam in memory of the veteran journalist VK Madhavan Kutty since 2007.
