Wayanad land eviction after talks, says Collector  

Wayanad, Sunday 29 August 2010: Lending a breather to the tense situation building up following eviction process in Wayanad district, the District Collector made it clear that eviction process would be carried out only after the discussion that the Chief Minister will have with the agitators.

The discussion is scheduled for Monday at Thrissur. The stage was set for discussion after the CM made an appeal to the Adivasi Kshema Samithi to put an end to the struggle.

Kerala Chief Minister V.S Achuthanandan on Saturday urged the people of ‘Adivasi Kshema Samithi’ to end the land strike continuing in Wayanad. Achuthanandan affirmed that the State government would provide land for all the land less people within three months.

A new tribunal would be constituted for settling the land cases registered in Wayanad, said Achuthanandan. Achuthanandan also assured speedy remedy to the cases related to encroachments.
