Wayanad, Thursday, February 02, 2012: A woman farmer hailing from Wayanad committed suicide on Wednesday after she found it difficult repay the loan she had taken from various banks.

The deceased has been identified as Kamalashi, 52, committed suicide as she found it difficult to repay the debt of Rs 75,000 on the family.

Local people found her lying on the farmland and she died on the way to Batheri Taluk hospital as they tried to get medical aid.

Her husband Balan was unable to go to work for the last two years as he was suffering from various ailments. Although they were farming in 80 cents of land the family was in debt because of the lack of yield and falling prices.
