Kottayam, Sunday 04 July 2010: Youth Congress activists today burned the effigy of Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, demanding his apology for passing comments against former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
Achuthanandan, who attended a function in Alappuzha yesterday, had alleged that ”Rajiv Gandhi was no better than Sanjay Gandhi. He was responsible for anti Sikh carnage in 1984 and allowed former Union Carbide Chief Warren Anderson flee the country after the Bhopal gas tragedy.”
Earlier, the Congress legislators, enraged over an inadvertent comment by the Chief Minister against Rajiv Gandhi, had stalled the proceedings in the State Assembly, leading to early adjournment.
However, later, the Chief Minister had clarified himself that he was actually referring to Sanjay Gandhi.
