Kasaragod, Monday 10 January 2010: Tension prevails in Kasaragod town and nearby area following murder of a youth at Choori locality near here as the day-long hartal sponsored by the UDF in the Madhur panchayat limits crippled normal life even in the municipal area limits.

The 25-year old youth Refad sustained serious injuries as three unidentified persons travelling in a three-wheeler attacked him with deadly weapons at Battapara as he was walking along the road around 09.00p.m. on Sunday, police said.

The youth, who received multiple wounds all over his body was rushed to a private hospital in Mangalore where he died around 11.00 PM last night.

Meanwhile, tension prevails in the municipal area limits of the town, which witnessed a hartal like situation with the entire vehicles, including two wheelers and private and State Road Transport buses keeping off the roads.

No arrests have been made in connection with the murder of the youth as police is keeping close vigil on the perpetrators of violence, they said.
