India fail to chase New Zealand’s 146-run target and lose by 52 runs in their ICC Women’s World Twenty20 semi-final.

Indian batting collapsed like pack of cards as none of the players could stand the Kiwis’ attack. Only three of the Indians could cross the double-digit mark.

After Indian men had ended their terrible ICC World T20 campiagn with a loss to South Africa, all eyes were on their female counterparts. But, sadly the women also could not rise to the ocassion and went down tamely to a discplined fielding side, New Zealand.

Earlier, riding on a fine innings by Aimee Watkins, New Zealand managed to post a competitive total of 145 for five.

Watkins top-scored with an unbeaten 89 off just 58 balls, studded with 10 fours and two sixes to put the Kiwis in the driver’s seat in their semifinal match of the ICC World Twenty20 Championship.

After electing to bat, New Zealand lost two early wickets but Watkins came to the crease and went about doing the repair work. Firing all guns, she played her shots well.

And although, wickets kept falling at the other end but she held on to her wicket and helped the Kiwis reach a good total in the end.

Amita Sharma chipped in with two wickets for 21 in her allotted four overs.

Shrugging off the opening match disappointment against England, India bounced back with two successive wins against Pakistan and Sri Lanka to book its place in the last four.
