Quite close but still not there for India. After being reduced to 60/5 earlier, they posted a respectable total and took the game till the 49th over in the second innings. Sri Lanka will be pretty pleased, after some nervous moments, they finally chase down the target and beat India by 4 wickets to win the Tri-nation Cup.Sri Lanka were always ahead in their run-chase despite losing a wicket in the first over itself. Dilshan (49) and Sangakkara (55) added 93 runs for the 2nd wicket setting up a nice chase. India struck back picking both the set batsmen but Samaraweera (27) and Jayawardena (71*) got together and negated India a collapse keeping things tight. Things came pretty close in the end but there were some valuable contributions from the late middle order while Jayawardena played right through till the end. He ensured his experience came into full play and took his side to win with safety.

Despite the loss, got to give credit to India for making a match out of nowhere. Raina’s hundred was superb that led India to a recovery. They even lost Nehra quite early in the 2nd innings due to injury, still his absence was not felt. Harbhajan (2/41) bowled really well, got some good support from Yuvraj and Jadeja along with Zaheer.
