Defending champions India have been packed out of the ICC World Twenty20 after England pulled off a thrilling three run win in their Super Eights clash at Lord’s.
Graeme Swann snapped up two wickets in one over, sending back Ravinder Jadeja and Yuvraj Singh to further dent India’s hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals.
Gautam Gambhir perished to Dimitri Mascerenhas and India are in deep trouble against England at Lord’s. In walks Yuvraj Singh.
Meanwhile, Ravinder Jadeja, who struggled to get going perished to Graeme Swann, trying to accelerate the run rate.
England are looking strong. Ryan Sidebottom has struck for the second time, this time, to see the end of Suresh Raina, who was looking all at sea against some serious short pitched stuff.
India lost Rohit Sharma early, when he chopped a Sidebottom delivery onto his stumps.
England are 153 for seven
India managed to restrict England to a manageable total at the Lord’s. It remains to be seen if MS Dhoni’s batsmen can rise to the occasion.
A double strike by Ravinder Jadeja has stunned England alright. After pocketing Bopara, Jadeja trapped Kevin Pietersen in front of the stumps.
RP Singh has struck in his first over to get rid of the dangerous Luke Wright, who was smartly caught by Yousuf Pathan.
Jadeja provided India with a much needed breakthrough when he got one to sneak past Ravi Bopara’s defence, rattling his timber.
Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan kept it tight at the end and also picked up crucial wickets to ensure England did not storm away to a challenging total.
