Sangakkara keeps hopes alive

Sri Lanka finish Day 4 at 183/3 and need another 309 runs to win the final Test against Pakistan in Colombo.

Sri Lanka’s hopes riding on Kumar Sangakkara to claim 3-0 victory.

Danish Kaneria broke the opening stand between BSM Warnapura and NT Paranavitana.

The Pakistan bowler’s delivery clipped Warnapura’s pad and Shoaib Malik took a brilliant low catch at the slip to account for the first wicket.

Shoaib Malik then accounted for Paranavitana and Kaneria scalped up Mahela Jayawardene’s wicket.

The visitors declared their second innings closed at 425 for nine, the declaration being applied three overs after the lunch interval.

Number 10 batsman Mohammad Aamer had progressed to 22 not out, continuing from where Shoaib Malik (134), Kamran Akmal (74) and Umar Gul (46) had left off in the morning.

Left-arm spinner Rangana Herath was Sri Lanka’s top bowler with a haul of five for 157 from 46 overs.
