Sri Lanka won by 139 runs

srilanka

Sanath Jayasuriya continues to fire all guns, despite the departure of the Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara.

Sri Lankan openers — Sanath Jayasuriya and Tillakaratne Dilshan gave the hosts just the kind of start they needed against India in the third one-dayer, which is a dead-rubber game.

However, just when the duo was looking dangerous, Ishant Sharma managed to see off Dilshan for a well-made 23.

Mahela Jayawardene then joined Jayasuriya in the middle and continued to pile up runs.

But a smart glove work behind the stumps by India captain resulted in Jayawardene’s departure.

Harbhajan Singh then took little time to claim the prized-wicket of the Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara (5), to suddenly push the hosts on to the back foot.

This match is inconsequential as both India and Sri Lanka have booked a place in the final of this Tri-series.

India registered a comfortable win to throw out New Zealand of the contest on Friday night. But India would like to win this match in order to retain their no. 1 spot.

While, India are playing the same team as yesterday but Sri Lanka have rested Thilan Samaraweera for this match.

Teams:

Sri Lanka: ST Jayasuriya, TM Dilshan, KC Sangakkara, DPMD Jayawardene, CK Kapugedera, SHT Kandamby, AD Mathews, KMDN Kulasekara, T Thushara, SL Malinga, BAW Mendis.

India: SR Tendulkar, KD Karthik, R Dravid, Yuvraj Singh, SK Raina, MS Dhoni, YK Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, RP Singh, A Nehra, I Sharma.
