Mussoorie, the ‘Queen of Hills’ is a paradise. Everywhere eyes are set, there is beauty unlimited. At a height of 7000 ft, it offers commanding views of snow capped peaks in the north east and the beautiful sprawling green Doon valley towards the south. The envy of other hill stations, no one escapes here from the magic spell of the queen.
Unlike other hill stations, Mussoorie hasn’t got a rich history. It wasn’t the summer capital of British but the charm of Mussoorie lies elsewhere. Mussoorie’s date with fame came after an adventuroes British military officer came here in 1827 with Mr. Shore, the resident Superintendent of Revenues at Dehradun and came up with a shooting lodge. Since then tourists haven’t stopped pouring in here. Never on official records, the air of informality hung in Mussoorie. it was as if it is left for the ‘affairs of the heart’. And it was not long after that Mussoorie had to its credit, the title of ‘honeymoon capital of India’, where romance flutters everywhere.
The busiest of all, Mussoorie has a hectic social life, the malls, shops, tourists all this makes sure that the place does not have a dull day in calender through out the year. Being so popular Mussoorie is a highly developed hill station. It has all the facilities to cater to domestic and foreign tourists.
A land of inexplicable beauty, the state of Uttaranchal is a new addition to the constitution of India. it was once a part of Uttar Pradesh, in the year 2000, an area of this state was separated and thus was born Uttaranchal.
Tourism in this state is plain and abundant, that is no wonder. It looks like as if the land is blessed by mother nature. An all season land it is, visit here any time in the entire year and you will not be disappointed. For the beautiful place has so much to offer that you will just want to savour every moment of it for lifetime.

The entire beautiful state is engulfed in the ranges of Himalayas yet it is so much more then just the mountains. The sheer geographical diversity that this small state encompasses is amazing. It has all the three ranges of Himalayas, Upper, Middle and Lesser passing through it. Some of the highest peaks in the world fall within its boundaries (Nanda Devi, 6400 metres). Its vast meadows, gorges, stretches of forested hills and land, its natural reserves, world Heritage sites like Valley Of Flowers are major attractions. The entire scape is dotted with springs, lakes and waterfalls which just add to the beauty. An abundant wildlife comes complimentary with the natural reserves, a rich flora and fauna is very obvious here. National Parks, wildlife and bird sanctuaries attract many a nature lovers here.
Uttaranchal is also called the land of gods and not without reason. It is truly the abode of gods. Major holy cities like Rishikesh and Haridwar on the banks of Ganga are centres of faith. Chardham, the path to salvation which every Hindu must take once during his entire lifetime. Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath to be more elaborate, these four collectively are known as Chardham. The faith runs strong in these shrines and the treacherous journey is certainly no deterrent.
